Herbert sat in his usual spot at The Dog & Duck, watching TV. Brian walked in, covered in sand.

"Dad, you won't believe it!" Brian exclaimed. "I'm going to be a champion!"

Herbert, without looking away from the TV, mumbled, "That's nice, son. What did you win?"

"I'm entering the Oakhaven Worldwide Sandcastle Competition!" Brian said proudly. "First prize is a new skateboard!"

Herbert finally turned around, intrigued. "Sandcastle competition? Sounds messy."

Brian rolled his eyes. "Margot is helping me. We're going to bury the competition! Our sandcastle will be the best!"

Later, at the park, Margot was carefully sculpting the sand. Brian was busy trying to distract her.

"Mom, can we get ice cream after this?" Brian asked.

Margot sighed. "Brian, focus! This is serious. We need to win this! Herbert promised to buy me that new garden set if we do."

Brian perked up. "Really? Okay, okay. I'll help. Can we add a moat? And maybe a dragon?"

Margot smiled. "A dragon sounds good. Let's get to work."

The next day, Herbert went to the park to see their sandcastle. He saw Brian and Margot standing proudly next to a magnificent castle, complete with a dragon and a moat.

"Wow," Herbert said. "Looks like you might actually win this thing!"

Brian grinned. "We told you we would bury the competition!"

Margot winked. "Now, about that garden set..."

Herbert sighed, but a smile played on his lips. "Okay, okay. But first, let's all get some ice cream to celebrate."

Brian jumped for joy. "Yes! I knew we could be champion sandcastle builders! And maybe next year, we'll go worldwide!"
