Herbert sat at the kitchen table, a half-eaten donut in his hand. Margot was meticulously organizing coupons.

"Margot, I had a thought," Herbert began, his voice brimming with unwarranted optimism. "A business opportunity!"

Margot sighed, barely glancing up. "Herbert, the last time you had a 'business opportunity', we ended up with a lifetime supply of rubber chickens."

"This is different! This is... strategic!" He puffed out his chest. "Old Man Fitzwilliam is retiring. His clock repair shop is going up for sale."

Margot raised an eyebrow. "And you think you can repair clocks? You can barely change a lightbulb without a raid on the fuse box."

"Details, details! Think of the potential! Antique clocks! Cuckoo clocks!" Herbert's eyes sparkled. "We could call it 'Walker's Time Emporium'!"

Margot paused her coupon sorting. "Herbert, clock repair is a skilled profession. It requires precision, patience... things you're not exactly known for."

"But... but imagine the profit!" Herbert pleaded. "We could finally afford that new grill! The one with the rotisserie!"

Margot considered this for a moment. "And what about your job at Oakhaven Industries?" she asked.

"Oh, that?" Herbert waved his hand dismissively. "I'll just... take some time off. Say I'm researching... um... historical timekeeping methods! They'll never suspect."

Margot shook her head, smiling faintly. "Herbert, you're incorrigible. But I admire your... enthusiasm."

Brian walked into the kitchen, skateboard in hand. "What's up?" he asked, grabbing an apple from the fruit bowl.

"Your father's having another one of his brilliant ideas," Margot said dryly.

"This one involves clocks! And potentially a new grill!" Herbert announced proudly.

Brian snorted. "Sounds like a recipe for disaster."

Herbert frowned. "You wound me, son. This is a perfectly linear plan! Step one: buy the shop. Step two: learn clock repair. Step three: profit!"

"And what if you fail on step two?" Brian asked, taking a bite of his apple.

"Failure is not an option!" Herbert declared dramatically. "Besides, I've already planned my grand execution of the business model!"

Margot sighed. "He means he's watched a YouTube video on clock repair," she explained to Brian.

Later that week, Herbert visited the Corner Shop. He spotted Mr. Abernathy, the town's resident know-it-all, browsing the cereal aisle. Time for some market research, Herbert thought.

"Abernathy!" Herbert boomed. "How's the ticker ticking?"

Abernathy jumped, nearly dropping his box of bran flakes. "Herbert! You startled me. And what's that supposed to mean?"

"Just making conversation!" Herbert chuckled. "Say, I hear Old Man Fitzwilliam is selling his clock shop."

"Indeed," Abernathy replied, adjusting his glasses. "A fine establishment. Though I do worry about the potential for age discrimination in the industry."

Herbert blinked. "Age... discrimination?"

"Yes!" Abernathy nodded sagely. "Young people these days, with their digital watches. No appreciation for craftsmanship! The merchant class is suffering!"

Herbert, thoroughly confused, slowly backed away. "Right... well... good to see you, Abernathy!"

Back home, Herbert recounted his conversation to Margot.

"Age discrimination?" Margot repeated, stifling a laugh. "Abernathy's just being Abernathy."

"But what if he's right?" Herbert fretted. "What if nobody wants old-fashioned clocks anymore?"

Margot patted his hand. "Herbert, don't listen to Abernathy. People will always need clocks. And even if they don't, we can always sell rubber chickens."

Herbert shuddered. "Let's stick to clocks."
