Vocabulary 173 - C1

Herbert sat at the kitchen table, attempting to grind his own coffee beans. The electric grinder had died, and Margot insisted on fresh coffee.

"This is taking forever," he grumbled, his arm aching. "I need a better method."

Margot walked in, holding Molly. "What's all the commotion? And why does it smell like burnt toast?"

"I think I'm making progress," Herbert said, showing her a handful of coarsely ground beans. Margot raised an eyebrow.

Later, at Oakhaven Industries, Herbert was supposed to inspect a new batch of safety helmets. He held one up, examining it with little enthusiasm.

His tolerance for boring tasks was exceptionally low. He sighed, wishing he were back home with a finished cup of coffee – even if it was poorly ground.

Suddenly, a revelation struck him. He could use the industrial-strength grinder in the factory! It could handle coffee beans in seconds.

The image of perfectly ground coffee danced in his head. He knew it was against regulations, but the temptation was too great. The thought would linger in his mind.

Back home, Margot found Herbert frantically cleaning coffee grounds from his work boots in the sink.

"What have you been up to?" she asked, her voice laced with suspicion.

Herbert nervously chuckled. "Just… uh… making coffee. Really, really good coffee."
