Laura: Oh no, Mom! My saxophone isn't working properly. The sound is all funny.
Margot: Oh dear. What's wrong with it?
Laura: I think something is stuck inside. I can't play my solo for the school concert now!
Margot: Hmm, let's see. Did you try looking inside with a flashlight?
Laura: Yes, but I can't see anything. Can you help me, Mom? I don’t know what to do.
Margot: Of course, sweetie. Let’s go to Herbert. He’s good with tools. He might have an idea.

Descrivere un problema e chiedere aiuto

A livello B1, è importante saper descrivere un problema in modo chiaro e chiedere aiuto in inglese. Frasi utili per descrivere un problema:
  • I have a problem with... (Ho un problema con...)
  • There's something wrong with... (C'è qualcosa che non va con...)
  • I’m having trouble with... (Ho difficoltà con...)
  • ...isn't working properly. (...non funziona correttamente.)
È importante essere specifici quando si descrive il problema. Esempi:
  • I have a problem with my phone. It won't turn on. (Ho un problema con il mio telefono. Non si accende.)
  • There's something wrong with the lights. They keep flickering. (C'è qualcosa che non va con le luci. Continuano a lampeggiare.)
Frasi utili per chiedere aiuto:
  • Can you help me? (Puoi aiutarmi?)
  • Could you help me? (Potresti aiutarmi?) - Più formale
  • Can you take a look? (Puoi dare un'occhiata?)
  • Could you explain...? (Potresti spiegare...?)
  • I need some help, please. (Ho bisogno di aiuto, per favore.)
Esempi:
  • Can you help me fix my bike? (Puoi aiutarmi a riparare la mia bici?)
  • Could you explain this grammar rule? (Potresti spiegarmi questa regola grammaticale?)
Per essere più cortesi, usa sempre "please" quando chiedi aiuto. Esempio:
  • Can you help me, please? (Puoi aiutarmi, per favore?)

Examples

Example: I have a problem with my computer. Can you help me? (Ho un problema con il mio computer. Puoi aiutarmi?)
Example: The car won't start. I need some help, please. (La macchina non parte. Ho bisogno di aiuto, per favore.)
Example: I’m having trouble understanding this exercise. Could you explain it? (Ho difficoltà a capire questo esercizio. Potresti spiegarlo?)
Example: There's something wrong with the TV. Can you take a look? (C'è qualcosa che non va con la TV. Puoi dare un'occhiata?)
Example: I lost my keys. Can anyone help me find them? (Ho perso le mie chiavi. Qualcuno può aiutarmi a trovarle?)
