Herbert was having a bad day at Oakhaven Industries. His supervisor said the new machine's safety guard was the wrong shape.

"It's a simple requirement!" the supervisor shouted. "Find a way to fix it!"

Herbert sighed. He preferred donut inspections. He went to the break room for inspiration.

Margot found Herbert at the kitchen table, surrounded by tools and a mangled piece of metal.

"What's all this, Herbert?" she asked, carefully stepping over a wrench.

"It's about this safety guard. I'm having a trial at work, Margot. The new machine's safety guard. It's all a mess because of that ridiculous administration! " Herbert grumbled. "The boss wants it fixed, and I can't even get the shape right!"

Margot picked up the metal piece. "Let me see that. You know, a little duct tape and some creative bending might do the trick."

Herbert raised an eyebrow. "Duct tape? Margot, this is serious. It has to pass inspection."

Margot smiled. "Trust me, Herbert. Sometimes a little ingenuity is better than following the rules. Besides, what's the worst that could happen?"

Later that day, Herbert sheepishly reported to his supervisor. "Well, I… uh… I fixed it."

The supervisor squinted at the duct-taped safety guard. "Alright, Walker. As long as it works."

Herbert grinned. "It works great."

That evening, Brian walked in as Herbert was watching TV. "Dad, why is Mom buying so much duct tape at the Corner Shop?" he asked suspiciously.

Herbert chuckled, a secret smile on his face. "Let's just say your mother has a knack for fixing things."
