Herbert sat at the kitchen table, a half-eaten donut in his hand. "Margot," he mumbled, "I need you to clarify something for me."

Margot, wiping down the counter, sighed. "What is it now, Herbert? Another one of your schemes?"

"It's about this new job at Oakhaven Industries. They're doing some recruitment, and the boss said it could be a desk job."

Margot raised an eyebrow. "A desk job? You, Herbert? I thought you liked being a safety inspector, even if it does seem a bit dull at times."

Herbert shrugged, taking another bite of his donut. "Well, my back hasn't seemed to heal properly since I strained it last month lifting those boxes of paperwork, and a desk job means I can sit down most of the day. Plus, maybe it has some rubber benefits, maybe not literal ones, but ones I can feel."

Margot rolled her eyes. "What kind of 'rubber' benefits are you hoping for, Herbert? Dental? Vision?"

"Maybe both?"

Later that day, Brian was in his room, bouncing a basketball. Herbert entered, looking defeated. "Guess what? The desk job interview didn't go so well."

Brian stopped bouncing the ball. "Why not?"

"Turns out," Herbert sighed, "the desk job involves more talking and less donut-eating than I anticipated. And they wanted me to clarify my strengths. What I meant to say was how good I am at finding the best donuts in town."

Brian smirked. "Maybe you should stick to safety inspections, Dad. At least you're good at that sort of job."

Herbert groaned. "Easier said than done, they're doing some recruitment for new inspectors...meaning I'll have to pass more tests to keep my current job. Looks like this won't be very dull for me after all!"

"I thought your back would heal soon, Dad!"

"We'll see, it needs a lot of rubber bands after the last incident!"
