Herbert slumped onto the couch, remote in hand. Margot sighed, folding laundry nearby.

"Herbert, are you reading that self-help book again? The one about psychology?"

Herbert grunted. "Yeah, yeah. Figured I'd see if there's a way to, you know, change my inherent trait of laziness."

Margot raised an eyebrow. "And is it working?"

Herbert flipped through the pages. "Well, it says positive affirmations are key. So, I've been telling myself I'm a go-getter. Feels a bit... ridiculous, actually."

Margot chuckled. "Probably because it's purely wishful thinking. Maybe try doing something active instead of just thinking about it."

Herbert sighed dramatically. "But this book also said something about visual aids. I'm thinking of ordering a motivational poster. One of those with the eagles soaring..."

Margot shook her head. "Herbert, that sounds incredibly artificial. How about you start by taking out the trash?"

Brian walked in, skateboarding under his arm. "Speaking of artificial, Mom, can you fix my ramp? It's cracked."

Margot smiled. "Sure, Brian. After your father discovers his inner motivational eagle."

Herbert groaned and switched the TV on. "Maybe later."

Later that evening, Margot found Herbert asleep on the couch, motivational book open on his chest, a half-eaten donut in his hand.
