Herbert sat at the kitchen table, looking rather depressed. Margot walked in, humming a tune.

Margot: What's wrong, Herbert? You look like you've lost your best sock.

Herbert: Worse, Margot. Much worse. Oakhaven Industries is doing a new safety inspection. If I fail, they might lower my pay! It's all those donuts I've been 'inspecting' lately.

Margot sighed, pouring herself a cup of tea. 'Herbert, whom do you think you're fooling? You can't smell donuts and resist eating them!'

Herbert: I know, I know. It's a curse! But what am I going to do? The inspector, Mr. Abernathy, is always armed with a clipboard and a very stern look.

Margot: Maybe try eating a salad for lunch? It might give you some energy, and keep you from smelling all the donuts.

Herbert: A salad? Lo, a fate worse than a pay cut! But… you're right. I have to try. For the family.

Herbert picked up a piece of broccoli from Margot's plate, looking at it with suspicion. Margot smiled.

Margot: That's the spirit! One small step for Herbert, one giant leap for Oakhaven Industries' donut supply.
