Herbert slumped onto the sofa, remote in hand. "This testing equipment at work is driving me nuts," he groaned. "Another day, another pointless drill."

Margot, folding laundry nearby, sighed. "Well, at least you have a job, Herbert. Try to look on the bright side."

Herbert switched on the TV. A cooking show flashed across the screen. "This chef's so-called 'innovative' dishes all look the same: bland! What's the rating on this show anyway?"

Margot glanced at the screen. "Probably terrible. You know, sitting around watching TV all day isn't going to help your mood. It’s kind of depressing."

Brian walked in, holding his skateboard. "Hey, Mom, Dad. I aced my history test!"

Herbert barely looked up. "Good for you, kid. Now, can you get me a donut?"

Margot smiled. "See, Herbert? Something positive happened today. And Brian, maybe you should aim for something a bit more sophisticated than just 'acing' your tests. Maybe start studying a musical instrument?"

Brian shrugged. "Maybe later. I'm going to the park."

Herbert sighed again, grabbing the remote. "Donut first. Park later. Life is hard."
