Herbert was in the living room, trying to fit a new shelf he'd bought from the Corner Shop. Margot walked in, carrying a laundry basket.
"Herbert, what's all this racket?" she asked, frowning at the chaotic scene. The sound of Herbert hammering was quite loud.
Herbert sighed dramatically. "This blasted shelf! It’s not going in straight. My arm is getting tired."
Margot put down the basket. "Let me see. Did you even read the instructions?"
Herbert waved his hand dismissively. "Instructions are for people who don't have a natural talent for DIY. This is a total disaster."
Margot examined the shelf and the wall. "You're trying to put it up upside down, Herbert. And you're using the wrong screws."
Herbert looked sheepish. "Oh. Well, I thought it looked... different."
Margot rolled her eyes, but a small smile played on her lips. "It would be fine if you just followed the instructions."
Margot took the hammer and screws from him. "Go make yourself a cup of tea, Herbert. I'll sort this out."
Herbert didn't need to be told twice. He headed to the kitchen, relieved to escape the DIY project.
