Herbert was watching TV, a half-eaten donut balanced precariously on his stomach.
Margot walked in, holding a stack of papers. "Herbert, I need your help. The Oakhaven Community Association is having trouble with its organizational structure."
Herbert groaned. "Organizational? Sounds like work. Can't it wait?"
"No, it can't. Senator Thompson is coming to visit Oakhaven next week, and we need to show him the capability of our province to host the annual state fair."
Herbert sat up slightly, intrigued. "Senator Thompson? The one who loves apple pie?"
Margot sighed. "Yes, Herbert. Focus. We need to present a clear composition of our town’s resources. The organizational chart is a mess."
Herbert scratched his head. "Composition? You mean like... a song?"
Margot rolled her eyes. "No, Herbert. It's about how things are arranged."
Later, at the Corner Shop, Herbert ran into Brian.
"Dad, can you buy me that new skateboard?" Brian asked, pointing to a flashy model in the window.
"Skateboard?" Herbert said. "I need to impress a senator to help your mom! I'm trying to figure out this organizational chart!" He pulled out a crumpled piece of paper.
Brian glanced at the chart, covered in scribbled notes. "That's easy, Dad. It's all about capability. Who's good at what."
Herbert blinked. "You understand this?"
"Sure," Brian said. "Like, Mom's got the capability to fix anything. And you... well, you're good at eating donuts."
Herbert chuckled. "True. Now, about that skateboard..."
Back home, Herbert, inspired by Brian's simplistic view, completely reorganized the Community Association’s chart.
He assigned roles based on people's obvious talents – Mrs. Higgins to 'Baking Committee' because of her award-winning cookies, and himself to 'Snack Acquisition' (unpaid, of course).
Margot took one look and facepalmed. "Herbert! This is even worse than before!" But she couldn't help but smile. At least he tried.
