Herbert slumped onto the sofa, remote in hand. "Margot," he called out, "I think we should nominate Brian for the 'Most Improved' award at school. He only set off the smoke alarm twice this week!"

Margot, entering from the kitchen, sighed. "Herbert, that's hardly grounds for a nomination. Besides, I saw him trying to sell Laura's saxophone online this morning."

"Details, details," Herbert waved his hand dismissively. "The point is, he's showing initiative. And with a bit of collaboration, we could guide that initiative towards, shall we say, *profit*."

Margot raised an eyebrow. "Profit? Herbert, are you thinking of getting Brian involved in another one of your schemes? The last one involved 'organic' fertilizer made from expired donuts."

Herbert chuckled nervously. "That was a learning experience! This time, it's different. See, Oakhaven Industries is offering a collaboration opportunity to design a new safety poster. First prize is…a year's supply of donuts!"

Margot groaned. "Oh, Herbert…"

Later that day, Brian was meticulously sketching in his notebook. Laura peered over his shoulder. "Is that…a donut wearing a hard hat?"

"It's for Dad's work thing," Brian explained. "He said we need to nominate safety. He also said if we win, I get half the donuts."

Laura frowned. "I thought you were still grounded for trying to replace the school's water fountain with a chocolate milk dispenser."

Brian shrugged. "That's a minor detail. Besides, Dad said if we don't win, the likelihood of him having to eat kale for dinner increases dramatically."

Laura shuddered. "Okay, maybe a donut-themed safety poster isn't the worst thing. But I will opt out of any further donut-related activities. I’m writing a letter to the Oakhaven Gazette about the dangers of processed sugar."

Herbert walked in, beaming. "Alright team, let's talk slogans! How about 'Safety First, Donuts Second!'?"

Margot walked in as Herbert spoke. "The likelihood of that winning is remote, Herbert.

Brian looked up from his drawing. "What about 'Donut let accidents happen!'?"

Margot crossed her arms. "If Oakhaven Industries turns hostile over this, I'm blaming you both. This family needs some serious vegetables soon."

Herbert sighed. "Fine, fine. No donut slogans. But can we at least consider 'Hard Hats: They're Deliciously Safe'?"

Laura and Margot exchanged weary glances. This was going to be a long week. "I'll opt out of this conversation now." Laura said with a sigh.

"I don't want to hear anything hostile said between family. Okay?"
