Herbert sat on the sofa. He looked at the TV.

Margot walked in. She held a glass of milk.

"Herbert," she said. "You need to start your diet."

Herbert sighed. "But the TV is so good!"

Margot put the milk on the table. "Your doctor said you must eat better."

"I know, I know," Herbert said. "But there is an exam next week to become supervisor at Oakhaven Industries. I need to study. I need sugar."

Margot frowned. "Studying is good, but eating sweets is not. Remember, you are forty years old now."

Herbert looked at the TV again. "Maybe just one cookie?"

Margot pointed to a banana. "Eat something healthy. And stop watching that yellow bird cartoon."

Brian walked in, holding a skateboard. "Dad, can you help me with my math homework?"

Herbert groaned. "Later, Brian. I am busy with my supervisor exam."

Brian looked at his father, then at the TV. He smiled. "Okay. But can I have some milk?"
