Herbert sat at the table, reading the newspaper. Margot was cleaning the kitchen.

Herbert sighed. "This article says eating too much fish can be bad for you."

Margot stopped cleaning. "Oh really? What disease can you get?"

Herbert squinted at the paper. "It doesn't say the name of the disease. It does refer to some long words I don't understand."

Margot walked over and looked at the article. "Herbert, that article is from 1985!"

Herbert shrugged. "Well, bad news is bad news, whenever it is. Besides, I don't think I eat enough fish to worry."

Brian walked in, holding a small plastic bag. "Dad, can I keep him? I promise I'll look after him."

Herbert looked at the bag. There was a little goldfish swimming around inside. "Where did you get a fish, Brian?"

"I won him at the fair! Please, can I keep him?"

Margot smiled. "Of course, you can, Brian. But you need to clean his tank. And Herbert, maybe you should worry about adult things, like fixing the leaky faucet, instead of old newspapers."

Herbert grumbled, but Margot was right. He sighed again. "Fine, I'll fix the faucet. But this fish better not give us any disease."

Brian laughed. "He won't, Dad! I promise!" He ran off to find a place for his new pet. He was very happy to be a young adult to take care of a fish.
