Herbert sat in his regular chair, the one perfectly molded to his… shape. Margot sighed, walking past.

Margot: Herbert, are you even listening to the news? They're talking about the Oakhaven town meeting.

Herbert: (eyes glued to the TV) Mmmhmm. Very interesting. Something about… new flower pots?

Margot: It's about the park's renovation! They need a speaker, and I thought…

Herbert: (grabbing the remote) A speaker? For flowers? Now I've heard everything.

Margot: (exasperated) No, Herbert! A person to talk about the plans!

Later that day, Brian was at the park, trying a new skateboard trick. He fell, landing in a particularly dry patch of grass.

Brian: Ouch! This park needs help.

He saw Laura practicing her saxophone nearby. She was part of the "Friends of Oakhaven Park" group.

Brian: Hey Laura, can you guide me to a better place to skate? This place is a disaster. And maybe find someone who can be a secretary for the group? No one wants to volunteer.

Laura: (lowering her saxophone) The secretary position is important, Brian. We need someone organized. And maybe you could help instead of just complaining?

Brian: Helping is boring! Skating is fun!

Laura: Maybe if you helped, the park would be more fun to skate in.

Back home, Herbert was fast asleep in his regular chair. The news droned on about the park meeting.

Margot: (to herself) Maybe *I* should be the speaker… or the secretary… anything is better than letting Herbert 'help'.
