Herbert was excited. He found an old van for sale!

"Margot, imagine!" Herbert said. "We can travel!"

Margot looked worried. "Herbert, that van looks like a disaster. Are you sure?"

"Have faith, Margot!" Herbert replied. "God helps those who help themselves!"

He bought the van. Brian helped him clean it.

Brian found a dusty old book under the seat.

"Dad, what is this?" Brian asked. "It's a diary!"

Herbert took it. "Maybe it has secrets! Or money hidden inside!"

They opened the diary. It was full of drawings of…pigeons.

"Pigeons?" Brian laughed. "This is boring!"

Herbert sighed. "Another one of my great ideas gone wrong."

Later, Herbert tried to fix the van. He wanted to build a small platform on top to watch the stars.

Margot came outside. "Herbert, please be careful! Don't fall!"

Herbert smiled. "Don't worry, Margot. This time, I know what I'm doing."

(The next day, Margot found Herbert with duct tape and a ladder.)

Margot said, "I told you so."
