Herbert walked into the kitchen. His stomach rumbled loudly.

Margot was already there, setting the table. “Good morning, dear! Did you sleep well?” she asked, trying to greet him with a kiss.

Herbert dodged the kiss. “I'm too hungry to be kissed. Is there any food?”

Margot sighed. “There's cereal. And I was thinking of making sandwiches for a picnic later, down by the underground river path.”

Herbert's eyes lit up. “Sandwiches! What kind?”

“Nothing fancy. Just ham and cheese. But…”, Margot paused, looking worried, “...I can't find the big knife. I need it to cut the bread.”

Herbert chuckled. “Don't worry, love. I saw Brian playing with it outside. He was pretending to be a… a… well, never mind what he was pretending to be.”

Margot's eyes widened. “Brian! With a knife? Oh dear.” She rushed outside.

Herbert went to the cupboard and got a donut. He started eating, then he looked around.

He muttered to himself, “Maybe I should go help Margot… Nah. Sandwiches first.”

Later, at the park, Brian was explaining something to Laura. “...and then, the badger showed up at the reception desk! It was crazy!”

Laura looked at him skeptically. “Brian, you're making that up.”

Brian grinned. “Maybe. But it’s a good story, right?”
