Herbert sat on the sofa. He wanted the TV answer right now. He had waited a week for this show!

Margot walked in. 'Herbert,' she said, 'Did you go to the shop? We need milk.'

Herbert did not answer. He just looked at the TV. Margot sighed. 'Herbert!'

Brian walked in. He saw Herbert. 'Dad, did you see my skateboard?'

Herbert said, 'Not now, Brian! The TV show is on! Be real! Can't you see I'm busy?'

Brian found his skateboard. He went outside.

Margot shook her head. 'Herbert, you are impossible. This happened weeks ago'.

Later, at dinner, Herbert tried to tell a joke. Nobody seemed to laugh.

Margot looked at him. 'Maybe next time, Herbert.'

Herbert smiled. He loved his family. They were real, even if they didn't always laugh at his jokes.
