Herbert sat on the sofa. He planned his next big idea.

"Margot, I will be an artist!" Herbert said. "I will paint the island!"

Margot looked up from her book. "An artist? Herbert, last time you painted, the cat was blue."

Herbert waved his hand. "This time is different! I learned a lesson. I will paint the island. Then, big money!"

Brian walked in, bouncing a ball. "Can I come to the island, Dad?"

"Maybe, Brian. If you help me pack my meal," Herbert said. He was already dreaming of fame.

Margot sighed. "This will be interesting."

Later, on the ferry to the small island, Herbert held his canvas high. He felt like a real artist. Brian chased his ball around the deck. The meal was sandwiches and a juice box.

At the island, Herbert tried to paint. But the wind blew. The sun was too bright. A bird landed on his head.

Brian said, "Dad, your painting looks like a green mess!"

Herbert looked at his canvas. He looked at Brian. He looked at the sandwiches. "Maybe being an artist is hard work."

Margot smiled. "Maybe a picnic is better?"
