Herbert sat on the sofa. He wanted to watch TV, but Brian was using the remote.

"Brian," Herbert said. "Can I have the remote? I want to watch the news."

Brian looked up from his video game. "In a minute, Dad. I'm almost finished."

Herbert sighed. He knew Brian's 'minute' could be a long time. He saw Molly playing with her toys on the floor. She had a little plastic animal.

"Molly," Herbert said softly. "What animal is that?"

Molly looked at him. She smiled and held up the toy. "Dog!"

Herbert smiled back. Suddenly, he had an idea. "Brian," he said loudly. "Did you know that Mrs. Gable saw a big foot in her garden?"

Brian paused his game. "A big foot? You lie!"

"No, I don't lie," Herbert said, trying to look serious. "She said it was as big as a car tire! Maybe it's Bigfoot coming into our space!"

Brian looked worried. He liked to play in the woods near their house. "Bigfoot? Really?"

"Maybe," Herbert said. "It's not very common, but anything can happen!"

Brian put down the controller. "I'm going to check the garden!"

As Brian ran outside, Herbert grabbed the remote. He smiled. It wasn't a lie, exactly. Mrs. Gable *had* said something about a big footprint. And Bigfoot could, in theory, occupy their space. It was common sense, really. As animals lived outside.

Margot walked into the living room. "Herbert! What did you tell Brian? He's outside with a broom, looking for Bigfoot!"

Herbert shrugged. "I just wanted to watch the news."
