Herbert walked into the kitchen. Margot was reading a book.

"Margot," Herbert said, "I think I need to be a detective."

Margot looked up, surprised. "A detective? Why? Did someone steal your donuts?"

Herbert sighed. "Not exactly. But the new chef at The Dog & Duck makes terrible food!"

Margot smiled. "That's not a crime, Herbert."

"It should be! It's a crime against taste!" Herbert replied. "The food used to have some, you know, chemistry. Now it's just? bad."

"Maybe he's just having a bad day," Margot said. "Or maybe he's trying new recipes."

"No, no. It's worse than that. He?Ts using too much salt!" Herbert said. "I spoke to him. I was very polite, but he didn't listen."

Margot put down her book. "Sadly, Herbert, being a bad cook isn't illegal. Maybe try another pub?"

Herbert looked defeated. "But? I like The Dog & Duck. And their onion rings. Well, I *used* to like their onion rings."

"Maybe Brian can detective some coupons for a different restaurant," Margot suggested, smiling. "Or maybe *I* can cook for you tonight?"

Herbert's face brightened. "That sounds much better!"

Later, Brian came into the kitchen.

"Dad wants me to find coupons?" Brian asked. "Why?"

Margot laughed. "He's not happy with the new chef. He thinks something's wrong with the food."

Brian grinned. "Maybe I can help! I know a thing or two about... flavour enhancement."

Margot raised an eyebrow. "Oh really? Please, Brian, no 'flavour enhancements'."
