Herbert was attempting to install a new, supposedly noise-cancelling, ceiling fan in the living room. Margot watched him, a mixture of amusement and apprehension on her face.

"Herbert, are you sure you know what you're doing? You don't need to preach to me about your electrical skills; I remember the toaster incident."

Herbert scoffed, balancing precariously on a wobbly stepladder. "Margot, this fan is practically sacred. It's going to give us peace and quiet! No more Brian's skateboarding videos at full volume."

Suddenly, there was a loud *CRACK*. Herbert lost his balance, flailing wildly as the fan, still half-attached, swung dangerously.

Margot gasped, clutching her chest. "Herbert!"

Brian, who had been attempting to sneak past the living room with his skateboard, froze, eyes wide. "Dad!"

Herbert managed to grab onto the light fixture, saving himself from a complete fall, but the fan was not so lucky. It crashed to the floor with a resounding shatter.

A piece of plastic whizzed past Brian's ear.

Margot sighed. "Well, there goes our sacred peace and quiet."

Later, sitting at the kitchen table amidst the chaos, Herbert received a call from his friend at Oakhaven Industries. The friend wanted Herbert to be a diplomat and tell him more details about the new machines that had arrived recently.

"Just give it up, Herbert," Margot said, handing him a cup of tea. "You can be so persistent when you want something, but sometimes you need to admit defeat. I'll call a proper electrician."

Herbert grumbled, examining a small piece of the fan that had somehow ended up in his tea. "But the instructions said it was 'easy installation'?"

Brian, who had retrieved his skateboard, grinned. "Maybe we can use the broken pieces for a ramp!"

Margot simply shook her head and reached for the duct tape.
