Herbert sat in his armchair, remote in hand. "Margot," he called, "I'm trying to derive some pleasure from this nature documentary, but the narrator sounds like he's reading a phone book."

Margot walked in, wiping her hands on her apron. "Well, Herbert, perhaps if you weren't so set on watching television all the time..." She sighed. "And frankly, your ideal of relaxation seems to involve minimal movement and maximum snacking."

Brian walked into the living room, his skateboard under his arm. "That reminds me, Dad, Mrs. Peterson, the art critic, said my sculpture was 'interesting.' What does that even mean?"

Herbert chuckled. "It means she didn't like it, son. It's a polite way of saying it's terrible."

Laura entered, tuning her guitar. "Actually, Brian, it could mean she sees potential. Maybe she thinks you need to lean into a certain style or technique. And Dad, you shouldn't discourage him."

Herbert rolled his eyes. "Oh, here we go. Next, you'll be telling me his artistic talent is in his genes."

Margot shook her head, smiling slightly. "Well, it's certainly not from your side of the family, dear."

Brian shrugged. "Maybe I should just stick to skateboarding."

Laura gave him a playful shove. "Nonsense. Keep creating!"
