Herbert shuffled into the kitchen, rubbing sleep from his eyes. Margot was already at the table, sipping coffee and looking over some papers.
"Morning, love," Herbert mumbled. "Any news about my wage increase?"
Margot sighed. "Still nothing. The implication is that Oakhaven Industries isn't doing so well this quarter."
Herbert frowned. "That's a fine remark. I need that extra money! My golf clubs are practically begging for an upgrade."

Later that day, at Oakhaven Park, Brian was attempting a daring skateboard trick. Laura watched from a bench, sketching in her notebook.
Brian crashed, sprawling onto the grass. "Ouch! I need to land this. It's all about commitment!"
Laura raised an eyebrow. "Perhaps a little less commitment and a little more observation? Maybe even an initiative to practice somewhere other than right next to the duck pond?"

Back at home, Herbert was watching TV when Brian stormed in, looking defeated.
"I'm never going to land that trick," Brian groaned.
Herbert, without looking up from the screen, said, "Well, I always say a firm resolution is half the battle. Now, are you going to change the channel or what?"
Brian muttered something under his breath about the need for actual effort, not just resolutions, before grabbing the remote.

resolution

Translate: risoluzione, determinazione
Example:Well, I always say a firm resolution is half the battle. (Beh, dico sempre che una ferma risoluzione è metà della battaglia.)
