Herbert sat on the sofa, remote in hand. "Margot, this new TV is remarkably affordable," he announced. "I got a great deal!"

Margot, dusting a bookshelf, sighed. "Affordable is one word for it, Herbert. I'd call it...massive. Where did the money come from?"

"Don't worry your head about it," Herbert said, waving dismissively. "I had a...a feeling. A probable win at the dog races."

Margot stopped dusting and stared. "Dog races? Herbert!"

Brian walked in, skateboard in hand. "What's all the shouting?" he asked.

"Your father bet on dogs," Margot said, exasperated.

Herbert cleared his throat. "It's not gambling, Brian, it's...informed investment. I had a good viewpoint on the fastest dog. It felt probable."

Brian grinned. "Did you win?"

"Well...not exactly. The referee made a bad call, I believe. But seeing that massive TV, it was certainly a memorable moment."

Margot rolled her eyes. "Memorable for all the wrong reasons. Now, about that money..."

Later, at the Corner Shop, Brian bumped into Laura.

"Hey," Brian said. "Dad bought a huge TV with gambling money."

Laura frowned. "That's not very responsible, is it? I have a different viewpoint. It is important to save money."
